Several statements were released regarding the Truce negotiations between Israel and Palestinian factions that are taking place in Cairo.
France Press reported that Hamas said that a “press conference will be held tonight in Cairo to confirm that they have reached an agreement for a truce”, while Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zahri stated that “Israel’s response is yet to be declared about the truce, and called for the media to wait for the Egypt Government as they will confirm it if an agreement is reached, and called for the resistance to fight the Israeli assault”.
Moreover, an Egyptian security source stated that a truce will be signed between Hamas and Israel tonight at 10pm Cairo time. On the other end, the spokesperson for the Israeli Government Mark Regev stated that an agreement for the ceasefire is yet to be reached, and also stated “we are using our political potentials as much as we can, but we cannot give a deadline for the truce agreement”
The U.S. and Israel said that they would prefer a political solution rather than a general offensive military campaign in the heavily populated Gaza strip. Israel earlier declared that they will delay the military invasion for Gaza, to wait for the outcome of the negotiations in Cairo.
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi stated earlier that the “Israeli Onslaught” on Gaza ends today; emphasizing that the negotiations outcome will be positive and an agreement will be declared within the next few hours.
