The world`s leading economy saw its shares managing to rise to close the week in green despite of the earlier losses caused by the demand for capital goods that fell as Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said the central bank has the ability to take additional steps to boost the economy
The Dow Jones Industrial Average index gained 100.51 points or 0.77% to close at 13157.97 levels, the index reached the highest point at 13175.51 and the lowest point at 13027.20, By closing 24 shares inclined while 5 shares declined.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index added 9.04 points or 0.64% to close at 1411.12 levels, the index reached the highest point at 1413.46 and the lowest point at 1398.04, By closing 397 shares inclined while 99 shares declined and 4 shares remained unchanged.
The NASDAQ Composite Index inclined 16.38 points or 0.54% to close at 3069.79 levels, the index reached the highest point at 3076.80 and the lowest point at 3042.22, By closing 1386 shares inclined while 854 shares declined and 255 shares remained unchanged.
Now Autodesk Inc. plunged 21 percent. The software maker lowered its annual sales forecast and said it plans to cut jobs as it restructures to focus on cloud and mobile computing.
The Dollar index which measures the performance of the U.S. dollar against a basket of currencies including the Euro, the Pound, and the Yen, narrow traded to currently trade at 81.44 recording its highest level at 81.71 and its lowest at 81.35 while oil rose to trade at $96.98 a barrel.
