On March 8, 1908, working women in New York City organized a massive march protesting against long working hours, low wages, and mistreatment in garment factories. The idea of reviving International Women's Day was proposed by the Second International Conference of Socialist Women in 1910, with the participation of more than 100 women from 17 countries. Clara Zetkin and Rosa Luxemburg proposed the idea of designating an international women's day. After extensive discussion, March 8th was chosen to be International Women's Day. Since then, the world has celebrated International Women's Day on March 8th of each year, considering it an opportunity to shed light on women's issues, promote gender equality, honor women's achievements in various fields, and work on removing obstacles they face in their societies.
