Shefali Jariwala (December 15, 1982 – June 27, 2025) was a well-known Indian actress and model, famously nicknamed the "Kaanta Laga Girl" from the iconic 2002 remix music video Kaanta Laga. She appeared in several Hindi films such as Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and participated in television programs including Nach Baliye, Bigg Boss 13, and the web series Baby Come Naa.
Diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 15, Shefali openly spoke about her health journey and how yoga helped manage her condition. She first married musician Harmeet Singh in 2004 (they divorced in 2009) and later married actor Parag Tyagi in 2014.
• On June 27, 2025, Shefali was rushed by her husband to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai after collapsing at home in Oshiwara—but was pronounced dead on arrival. • Early reports pointed to cardiac arrest, potentially triggered by a sudden drop in blood pressure during fasting or an anti-aging treatment she was taking. • Mumbai Police have initiated a preliminary investigation and a post-mortem was conducted; no foul play has been detected so far and her death has been classified as natural/accidental.
• The entertainment world reacted with shock and grief. Singer Mika Singh, actor Aly Goni, and Bigg Boss co-star Vishal Aditya Singh publicly expressed their sorrow. • Priyanka Chopra described her passing as “too young,” while Varun Dhawan appealed for the media to respect the family's privacy.
Shefali Jariwala was a beloved Bollywood personality whose sudden death at age 42 has left a profound void in the entertainment industry. From her rise to fame with Kaanta Laga to her candid discussions about health and her contributions to television, her passing marks the end of an era. The investigation into her death continues, but the current consensus points to a natural medical cause rather than foul play.
